Here’s some intelligence for your health, courtesy of First magazine:
· Right off the bat, if you’d like to lose weight without trying – clip on a pedometer! Studies at California’s Lindora Medical Clinic found that people who wear pedometers lose 60 percent more weight than those who don’t. Why? Because pedometers give instant feedback, and provide the incentive to take extra calorie-burning steps every day. So, get yourself a pedometer and start working on today’s 10-thousand steps!
I think Scott is thinking more of pedometers like this one:
· Then, double the health benefits of tea. Studies show that drinking tea every day can do everything from fight cancer, to speed weight loss……But you can’t always find 10 minutes to brew and enjoy a cup. The fast fix: Drink a single cup brewed with loose tea leaves……And you’ll get the health benefits of two cups made with regular tea bags. Why? According to a study at the University of Northampton, whole, loose tea leaves haven’t gone through as much heating, processing, crushing and packing as “teabag” tea……Which means more health-enhancing flavonoids will end up in your cup.
· And the final bit of intelligence for your health: If you can’t get to bed early no matter how hard you try, take heart. Getting higher-quality sleep may be better at banishing fatigue, brain fog, and the blues than simply getting more sleep. To bring onsound slumber, try listening to soft, slow music for 45 minutes before you hit the hay. Studies at Bradley University in Illinois found that it reduces heart rate and respiratory rates - changes that boost the quality of your sleep by 35 percent.
To recap: clip on a pedometer to lose weight, boost your immune system by drinking loose-leaf tea, and get better quality sleep by listening to soft, slow music before bed. And you’ll be healthier in no time!
