I've wandered along the beach with him and our enraptured students, sat through boring Science training with him, confronted irate parents with him, and laughed 'til I snorted soda through my nose at him. What memories stick out the most of Mike Ayers over these last few years? That's hard.
- Sitting on the bleachers watching the 5th and 6th graders launch rockets, Mike asked me if I wanted some free computers for my classroom. "Yes, Sir!" led to the handhelds we have in our classroom. He made that happen for us all. I am so grateful.
- Watching him surf fish with my autistic son and him make a huge deal out of the tiny little one Josh caught. Priceless.
- Watching him jam with "White Snake" and my man for Night With the Stars. Rock on.
- Two fathers passing away, mine and Eric's. Looking up at both funerals, seeing Mike and my school sisters. My school family, there for me, always. Worth the world.
My list goes on and on. I will never stop thinking of Mr. Ayers as my principal. I know he will always be there for me. My friend and cohort in crime. Thanks, Mike.
