Letterboxing has become a large part of our lives. We started in March of 2009, after I spent a week in the hospital at Memorial Mission. While there, I found AtlasQuest online and felt directed by God that this was the activity I had been searching for. Something to get our family out of the house, spending quality time together, traveling around our state, and just enjoying being together. Letterboxing has blossomed into a teaching tool, an after-school club, a community of friends who support each other (Jada and Aaron and online friends), and a relaxation and creative outlet that I really needed. I love to carve stamps, and I have found great personal satisfaction in watching my skills grow. I find it very fulfilling to follow complex clues and find a tiny piece of artwork that someone else has labored over. Letterboxing is very reflective for me and I have hiked more than 30 miles this year, something I have never done in my life. It has changed me, for the better, and I am so grateful to have found it, on this Thanksgiving Day of 2009.
This is probably my favorite find. The cemetery was cold, wet, and creepy. The clues were very misleading, and we all were quite frustrated. When that "Aha" moment happened and I found Jane Austen, I was thrilled! Letterboxing is a favorite family pastime now.
